Jeremy Made It To WI

I guess the deer hunting on Saturday wasn't too exciting. He got back before dark with wet feet. Other than that, he didn't see anything but other people in trucks pulling trailers with four wheelers on them. Meanwhile, Hayde and I had two nice long walks - one thru the neighborhood and the other thru the Petawawa Terrace. The day started cool, but eventually warmed up into the 50s. I also started the weekly cleanup on the house.

Sunday, we spent cleaning up and finding everything Jeremy wanted to take with on his 3-week trip back to WI. He got the truck mostly packed so he'd be ready to go come morning. I did make a trip into town since the green jeep desperately needed an oil change. I picked up the necessary pieces for Jeremy to do it himself. He also checked the red jeep since I had noticed coolant leaking and it's still coming from the heater valve as earlier this summer. Same kind of leak the green jeep had all last winter. I'll have to keep an eye on the level. As he was under the green jeep, he noticed the floor boards on the drivers side were pretty well rusted out and poked at what there was and realized he was poking at the inside carpet on the floor. He's now thinking about how he can decommission the green jeep. I did test out the garage to see if the vehicles would fit. The red jeep did without problems, but the truck I think is just a few inches too big. The side mirrors stick out just too far, but it might get in height-wise, but it'd be really close.

I left for work Monday as Jeremy was getting up and collecting the last bits and pieces to pack. I sadly said good-bye to him and Hayde hoping he'd get off to an early start. He booked a room on the outskirts of Lansing, MI so he had a good 10 hour drive Monday. I did talk to him Monday night and he made it thru customs quite quickly and easily given he had Hayde and a couple guns. They didn't bother to search or ask for any paperwork for them and he got into the hotel around 7pm, then took Hayde for a long walk around the capital before settling in to the room.

Today, he made it to Rockford where his friend, Mike, works, had lunch and picked up the house key. I just talked to him so he made it safe and sound to Madison and was about to head out to pick up Milo (1-2 yr old chocolate lab) from doggie daycare. Hopefully I'll hear about his excursions and can provide updates. He should be in Madison for the next week hunting with Mike. They'll be doing some pheasant, duck and goose hunting. Afterwards, he'll take Hayde and head up to the cabin (Stanley/Boyd area) for deer hunting. He's booked Hayde at a kennel around there while everyone's at the cabin. He did take my camera (and hopefully takes care of it) and I hope he remembers to take pictures.

So, in the meantime, I'm holding down the house and working. It's so much quieter, but at least I have the two cats to keep me company. I feel almost naked running since I've lost my running partner and my mp3 player to Jeremy, but I will continue to try to get out before dark and still hit the gym. I have a few smaller projects I've got in mind for the house while he's gone so we'll see what I can get done. I'm waiting for my second paycheck to pick up parts to do some of it and if I can get them done, hopefully I can borrow Kharren's camera so I can post some pictures. Until next time....
