Friday started out to be a semi-relaxing evening. Around dusk, Jeremy decided to start a bon-fire and took Hayde outside with him. I went out a bit later and sat down and started swatting mosquitoes. Before long, I hear Jeremy shouting really loud and firmly at Hayde - more intense then he ever talks to her so it caught my attention. I immediately asked what he was shouting at her for and he said "skunk!". Oh no!!!!! I got up to check it out and got a good whiff of the stench! Boy, was it a stench, nothing like I've ever smelled before and not even a normal skunk smell that you smell when you come across a dead skunk someone hit on the road. It was WAY worse... So, sure enough, Hayde had gotten sprayed. We think the skunk ran under the canoe and into the garage. Jeremy got the hose out and tried to spray the area he thought it ran to get it out of the yard. I soon enough realized, I had saved a recipe for a solution which is supposed to help minimize the smell so I came inside to look it up and then decided I better run to the drug store quickly. By this time it was around 9pm. Once I got there and inside, I realized I still smelled skunk and realized it was me! I finally found the hydrogen peroxide I was looking for, but of course it was in mL and my recipe was in qts so I had to stop the pharmacist (who commented on the smell and I confessed it was me) before getting stuck in the checkout lane waiting for a really slow customer that finally had to run out to her car. I feel so bad for all the people waiting in line(which had backed up to about 6 people). I quickly paid and got out of there! I mixed the peroxide with some baking soda and a little bit of detergent and we went outside and put Hayde in her kiddie pool to bathe her. She was such a good girl while Jeremy soaked her, waited and rinsed repeatedly about 4 times. Finally we got her dried off a bit, resniffed her and figured it was MUCH better. I was worried we were going to have to leave her outside by herself all night or at least in the garage, but she was good enough we decided to bring her kennel inside and leave it in the entry way and put her in there for the night. We continued to smell skunk the rest of the night, but weren't sure where it was all coming from. Our clothes are smelly, the garage is smelly, the house is a bit smelly, Hayde is smelly..... I think we've almost grown used to the smell now it's harder for us to figure out where it's coming from. We gave her one more bath Sunday, but I don't think that did too much more. I did talk to the vet and woman at the pet store and I think we did about the best we could. The smell gets into the pores and then likes to linger for a while. It also gets worse if she gets wet.
Saturday, we made a trip into town to do some errands. Of course we stopped at Home Depot and returned our brown vent we accidentally got instead of black. We also found a really good deal on a decent mid-size compressor. This will work with the air roofing nailer Jeremy got the other weekend that was on sale. It'll also work with more tools so I think we did pretty well. We would have had to rent a compressor so we were able to buy one for about the price we would have had to rent one for. We also found four sets of door locks to replace all the outside locks on the house. We now have one key that will open all four exterior doors on the house instead of a different key for each door - also just in case someone else had a key from the former people living here. I also brought the camera to take pictures of the shingles we think we bought. All the samples look different so we're unsure of what we actually got. We're a bit scared it'll end up being too light, but I guess we'll have to see. They should be delivered on Friday.

We chose the toned gray which is the 3rd one from the right at the very top in the above picture. However, this is the architectural shingle and we got the three-tab so we're not sure if it'll turn out like this or not.

Saturday night we got out on the river for a bit. The water is super low now and there's no way we could get the boat into the Petawawa River from the Ottawa River like we did last year. It's all starting to grow in with grass. Lots of rocks are starting to show themselves as well so we have to be even more careful. We ended up going back to our spot across from the boat landing between two islands. Jeremy was able to pull in two walleye, but only kept one. We found an odd thing close to the bottom that may have been fish and I think I snagged one of whatever it was, bit didn't get it in the boat.
Sunday, I got up and went to running club. Two others showed up and we headed out for ~15K, I had 11 miles to do. The other two like to run fast, so I struggled to keep up as I haven't done any fast training yet. This was a good test though to see what I could do. It was also a very hot and sunny day which made it a bit harder. Jason was trying to take it a bit easier so waited for me at a couple spots and then we decided to continue and get in my 11 miles. It was nice of him to wait for me. I was just leaving running club when Jeremy left for hockey. He now has a Sunday morning pick-up league he's started. We took the rest of Sunday semi-easy. I was pretty tired and a bit dehydrated from my run and it was really hot out.

Today, we managed to start tennis back up. Danielle's torn hamstring is on the mend and she was ready to try playing. She also found someone else to fill in since Byron is gone. It was raining so we had to play inside. We also had to pick up a new CAC card since ours expired June 30. We now have another years gym membership. We also started getting up before work to run which is nice since it's been so hot out. We've heard from Jeremy's mom, Carol, and she's getting her plane ticket to come visit at the end of August. We're expecting his aunt and uncle, Howard and Marilynne about the same time. So, we're hoping to get the rest of our house projects completed by the time they get here. We'll have to start the roof next weekend once the shingles arrive. Until then....
