The Last Three Weeks

We shoveled out the day after we got back, unpacked, did laundry, went grocery shopping....all the fun stuff.  I don't think anything too exciting happened the next week.  On the weekend, we went out for the last time grouse hunting.  Hayde flushed one, but it was too far away and we never found it again.  She also manged to flush a rabbit.  It must have been a jack rabbit since it was extremely big and white.  Again, we were too far away, but it had huge bounds and leaps as it ran away.  We tried tracking it, but had a hard time finding any tracks in the snow.  At some point, the snow we got back to melted away and it warmed up a bit.  Needless to say, it didn't last too long.

We hit the gym two weeks ago one night.  It's been such a long time since we got there to lift.  We were both sore the next day or so.  Last weekend, I had invited Margo and her husband, Bernie over for dinner.  She was so kind and watched the cats while we were gone.  She had taken Stewart home since he's such a good guy and puts up with just about anything and he has no issues.  I had taken him back to my parents each time I visited until we moved here so he had traveled quite a bit and moved from apartment to apartment with me.  Kitty, on the other hand with her attitude problem, her eating and litter box issues and her inability to adapt well, stayed at the house.  Margo came just about every day to feed her and give her a pet.  So, Jeremy helped out and made some venison, beer bread, potatoes and apple pie!  It was delicous.  We had a good night talking about hunting, dogs, fishing, etc.

The next day, it snowed!  It snowed and snowed and snowed.  I went out to shovel 5 times!  I even went to running club in the morning and Janice and I did an hour long run in the snow.  I think we probably got about a foot of snow.  It slowed down the next day a bit, but Tuesday, we got hit again with maybe another 6 inches or so.  So, I guess winter is officially here.  We've hardly had a day all last week that it didn't know and the sun only peeked out for a few minutes one day.

Yesterday, it was a bit warmer and Marnie came over with Bean and Cooper.  The dogs played around in the house for a bit and then Marnie and I went out to the pet store and grabbed a cup of coffee. It was nice seeing her again.  It's been a long time.
We haven't really done much else.  I guess we're trying to "relax" from all the summer/fall endless activities.  I'm still going to running club and so far they're staying outside.  It's definitely gotten cool.  Last week we had highs in the lower teens and when we got up Friday morning it was -4F.   I have to apologize for not updating this as frequently as I had.  I guess when time's so tight, I do a much better job planning my time.  I'll try to keep up with it going forward.  We have one more week of work and then will be off for 10 days to relax and maybe work on a few other smaller projects around the house over X-mas break.  It should be really quite as it's just the two of us and we have no plans.  We're looking forward to it!  Oh, I should mention quick that the green jeep is "put away" beside the garage for the winter.  The red jeep is in the garage and the driveway is mostly empty, minus the truck!
