My parents made a trip to visit. They headed up to the Boundary Waters for a canoe trip with some friends, then made their way over. They arrived over a week ago on Sept 28th and left this morning(Tuesday Oct 9). It was a nice long stay and they got to enjoy a few things here. I didn't end up taking any time off of work since it's so busy and I've just started and am overwhelmed with all the work. They helped me get the yard in order again. We cleaned out the garden for the most part. I got some of the pepper plants potted so I could bring them indoors and try to save them over the winter. We'll see - they've gotten bug infested so I hope I have that under control. We also got out to eat at The Nook Creperie - ummmmmmm!!!!!
It was also great to have them here to watch me run. I did the Kitchissippi race last Saturday. It's the first time they've done this and it's in Chalk River. It can't get any better to have a closer race! Plus, it was absolutely gorgeous as we hit the peak leaf colors this last week. Mike, Annalisa and I from running club did the full marathon. Janice did the 1/2 marathon and Judy did the 10k. They also had a 3k walk/run. The three of us started at 8am and each of the other races started an hour later. Mike and I ran together the entire way and we ended up catching up to Janice in the middle of the 1/2 marathon and we even got to see Judy in her 10k. Unforunately, as everyone else headed to the finish, we had to head back out for our last 10k.

| Janice was our "rabbit" for a bit - she was sure tough to catch. Then we went back and forth cause Mike and I would stop for water or pants while Janice kept going. |

So, you can imagine this was definitely a tougher race. I didn't have any goal in mind other than to finish and that's what we did. Mike's knee has been bother him for the last month or so so he wasn't feeling extra great either. We felt good for the first 15-20k at least and we had some nice sun even though it was cool. Unfortunately, around the 1/2 way mark it started to hail and rain pretty hard. UGH! Both hamstrings started cramping up around this time and I ended up getting my rain pants from my parents. So, all in all, it went ok - my twelveth marathon is under my belt! It's now recovery and easy time. I'm finally able to walk more easily, but I do get a bit stiff if I sit for a while. I get to go back to Elizabeth(chiropractor in Pembroke that does ART like Victoria), on Saturday so hopefully she can pop my bones back in place again. I have a lot of foot strengthening work ahead of me that's for sure!
We also got to enjoy Thanksgiving on Monday with my parents. We made the whole meal - turkey, stuffing, potatoes, beans, cranberry sauce, salad and pumpkin pie. We all pitched in to do something. It all turned out and was really good. Thanks mom and dad for visiting and helping out with so much! We got to use our "new" kitchen too! The new sink is a life-saver.
A few weeks ago, poor Stewart got in to the vet and got his teeth cleaned. They ended up having to take 3 teeth out. I also had them remove a cyst or something by his armpit so he's had a cone on for the last two weeks. Just got his stitches removed yesterday.
I'll have to do another post for all the other bits we've been doing. Jeremy's been out hunting as much as he can, but those stories will have to be later.
