Newest Updates

After a week of waiting, we heard back on the house deal. The financing went thru without problems. It took until Thursday night/Friday to hear back since it was a little more complicated with an international credit check and us not being "permanent residents". We also went thru with the house inspection Thursday afternoon. It took about 2 to 2-1/2 hours, but other than the roof of which we knew about, there wasn't anything major. A couple of outlets have a minor issue, there's a crack in one window and a pipe was leaking when the dishwasher drained, but it needs a quick soldering fix and a little maintenance to the garage where the walls meet the ground. With a little maintenance on the roof, we should be able to get by for another year or so before having to replace it. Of course, I took the opportunity to check out the house one more time and to take several more pictures that I posted to my webshots site (I deleted the photos of the other two houses):

So, Friday afternoon, Jeremy went over to the realtor and signed the remaining official papers. I had to work, so I couldn't go with. Looks like we're good to go with a closing date of September 30!

In the meantime, it's been a rainy, dreary week - AGAIN. Kharren and I managed to get to the beach one day while it was sunny and warm for a little bit. I took Hayde with and she had fun splashing in the water and swimming after her ball. I also found an appliance store that had a replacement for our oven heating filament. It caught on fire and broke the other week when I was preheating the oven for the lasagna I was making. So much for having lasagna that night. We ended up having to take it to Lee and Kharren's a few nights later to cook. So, we now have a working oven again. Jeremy picked up some meat at the butcher's in Chalk River and is currently working on making some more sausage. He made some jerky the other night. Yesterday, we took the boat to Black Bay and fished up the Petawawa River. It's a really neat ride. I caught a little small mouth. Jeremy and Foy (guy from work) went Friday night while I was at work so Jeremy wanted to go back yesterday. We managed to dodge the rain in the morning to do this and on our way home, it poured, but didn't last long so we managed to get to the beach afterwards with Lee, Kharren, Khartem, their friends - Marie, Logan and their two 5 month old twin boys. It was a bit cool, but with a little baseball playing we warmed up enough to get in the water to hit the volleyball back and forth. The water's getting warmer!!
