Well, it's been a couple of busy, long weeks. We started stripping the cabinets. Don't ask any more! We returned the cabinet kit we had picked up because it sounded like that was basically painting the cabinets and we wanted the grains to come through so we went back and picked up stripping stuff and stain. We began last weekend and got several panels stripped down. We tested out the stain we got, but it was a bit light for our tast so we went back and picked up some darker stains. We tried those, but we didn't really like what it was doing. We were getting really blotchy, dark and kinda dirty looking cabinets. So, today, we finally gave up and decided to go back and pick up the kit again. We're hoping some of the grains do end up coming thru, but we shall see. I'm trying to download some pictures so I can get some posted as this kitchen project is going to take MUCH longer than anticipated. On top of that, we came home Friday night and someone(animal) had knocked a brand new can of stain off the kitchen table and onto the floor. Of course it popped open and all the stain spilled onto the floor(we know what our next project is!). It's not too bad, but you can see where the spill was.
Meanwhile, I've been picking up my running even more. Managed just shy of 17 miles this morning and it was actually really, really nice out. Just a tad cool for me, but very nice. We finally got lots of rain over the last week - much needed as there were a few fires in the last month. I did a bike/run workout on Tuesday that Annalisa put together since there are a few people doing triathalons. I joined too and it was a good workout. We did a bike loop(of course up a really steep hill), then did a stride across the track and did a quick track lap, another stride and back to the bike....repeat 3 times. I've been doing a lot more leg strengthening and I really think it's helping out my hips/hamstring. My feet are still bothering me, but none of these nagging minor pains are stopping me yet. fingers crossed. We had a nice gathering Friday evening with my running club crew. It's nice getting together with them outside of running.
We got the boat out last night too and were going to go trout fishing today, but my run took longer and Jeremy had already gotten into the cabinets and that ended up taking over. My tulips are in full bloom and the rest of the flowers are coming up. I had gotten the wild flowers seeded, but it kept getting really windy just after I planted them so I had to do that a few times, but there are little seedlings coming up. We also had a quick little fire last night in our fire pit. We had cut down a bunch of lilacs and need to burn those. The check engine light came on in the car again....so who knows what that means. So much to do....never enough time. Well, that's the highlights of the last couple of week. Not much, but at the same time - a lot. I think spring might finally be here after a month of really cold weather.
