Yard Work/Fishing/Cabinet/Running

So, I guess we've been plenty busy again.  I'm not sure where to start or what we've even done.  I've worked on the yard the last two weekends.  The vegetable garden is fully planted and I noticed this weekend, the peas and corn are starting to come up.  I put them in last weekend.  I also got my big planters full of annuals.  It's starting to look really nice outside.  We still have lots of holes in the grass, so that's my next project with the yard, otherwise, all is done....just maintenance.  It's been super hot the last couple of week - probably in the upper 80s!  I like it!  No more big wool sweaters!
We got out on the river once the other week.  Not too much excitment.  However, we got out Wednesday evening after work and brought home two walleye.  Jeremy got a really nice one, but it was too big.  We can't keep the big ones for another few weeks.  It was a bit windy Friday, so we ended up fishing from shore.  There's a nice big rock face where the Petawawa River dumps into the Ottawa.  Saturday, we drove up to Stonecliff and put in there and explored.  It sure was buggy!  We now understand "BLACK FLIES"!  OW!!!  We had the most luck back in a "lake" that dumps into the Ottawa.  We've fished there before and had some luck.  I pulled in a really nice 20 inch, fat walleye.  Jeremy got some small ones in another spot.

We've been slow on the cabinets lately because we just aren't sure what to do. We've tried and tried so many different kinds of stain. I think we have close to a dozen small cans. However, I think we've made a decision....we're just scared to go thru with it and start staining. We've re-sanded all the doors we had done up(maybe 4-5 times by now), so they are fully ready to go. We finished that up this afternoon.

I almost forgot, last weekend was our 3-day weekend for Victoria Day.  We also dog sat for Marnie and Jason - Bean and Cooper.  I ended up taking all 3 dogs running with me each day.  Marnie's done such a great job working with her dogs that it was actually easy to do.  I had Hayde off leash and Bean and Cooper trotted right along side me.  They for sure don't get the exercise Hayde does!!!
I've completed my first 20 mile run today(this training round).  It went really well.  I was solo today(other than 5 miles with Hayde).  The Ottawa races were going on this weekend - I had done the full our first year here and the 1/2 the second year, but it's getting to be such a big race, it's not that enjoyable anymore.  I tested myself out today.  I've usually run with Janice and maybe one or two others, but I've been finding they're a bit slower than I would like to challenge myself with.  The last couple of long runs, I've run with Mike and he's been at a really good pace for me.  However, I've lost him as well since he just ran his marathon today that he was training for.  I started a bit slower with Hayde this morning, dropped her off, then I finally got into my rhythm.  I managed to pull off about 15, 8:50 miles.  A few were over 9 minutes, but the rest were all within seconds of 8:50min/mile!  I'm so proud of myself!  It's feels so good to be able to do that, and I wasn't feeling toooo bad.  I finished in 3hrs 2min(run time)....just where I want to be. My butt was getting sore and tired, as were the rest of my muslces, but definitely tolerable.  No huge hip pains either.  It's just my feet that are still bothering me yet.  I don't think that'll go away, but I keep rolling them over a golf ball and wearing my socks I made.  I had to take a quick 30 min nap this afternoon, but got the grass mowed(at least the backyard), and got more grass seed down, sanded.... and am feeling pretty darn good now.  Last Sunday, I managed 17 miles so I'm definitely at my peak of training.  My biggest goal is to eat well and keep strenghtening and try my hardest to get enough sleep.  I'm doing so much better this time and I think it's really starting to pay off.

So with that, I'll have to see if I can get some pictures inserted, then off to bed (and hope I can get the last bit of laundry in.  I'd have to say, my days are full to the max so bare with me on my posts - I'm trying to find a few minutes to get this in as well.
