And There's More Snow

I'm going to try to make this short and quick as I have lots to finish doing tonight while Jeremy's off at hockey. But, guess what? It's snowed again and I guess the short spring weather isn't going to last. We probably got another 6-7 inches at the end of the week and another 3 inches last night and it's been snowing again all evening. At least it looks pretty on the trees and I'm thankful we have so many pines to keep some color around for the winter.

Jeremy's trip to Mississauga was successful. There was a group from AECL that drove together so that was nice this time. He didn't have to go alone. I kept the house together Thursday and Friday. I did get his truck out Thursday evening to go visit Kharren and Lee for the night, but managed to konk out twice before getting to the end of the block. Plus, it didn't want to start again, but I remembered from the last time that Jeremy told me to put the gas peddle to the floor so I tried it and it worked. I keep getting stuck trying to get to second gear the first time out - it's sticker than I remember so I think I'm in second, but I'm actually only in neutral and then I konk out. I'll have to remember it next time.

Friday, Kharren came over to visit for a bit and then later in the evening I went with her and two other Phillipino women she knows, Jo and Michelle, to a movie in Pembroke. Afterwards, we stopped at Tim Hortons!!! First time ever and it's around the block! It's the Starbucks of Canada. Anyway, I had a good time and got to know Michelle better. She actually lives a couple blocks away from us.

Saturday, we ended up driving around all morning trying to find bait to go ice fishing. We decided to try the Deep River Outfitters since Allan's in Pembroke was still out of wax worms, but Deep River only had small minnows so we drove to Pembroke to Allan's to get the large minnows for Muskies before heading out to Corry Lake. Jeremy's getting frustrated because no one carries the bait he keeps looking for. We sat out there for 3 hours maybe and Jeremy pulled in a baby perch. We did get a hit on a tip-up, but didn't hook anything. It was super nice by the time we got out and I got really warmed up after drilling two holes, I had to take my jacket and neck gaiter off and unzip my snowpants! By the time we left, it was really cold and my feet were burning they got so cold. I did remember my snow shoes this time so was able to make a nice walking path. Of course, Hayde had fun running around and playing frisbee. She always lags behind as we leave since she doesn't want to go. We had trouble getting her all the way to the truck. We also hit the gym after we got back and Dad, you'd be proud of me for giving other things a try. I ended up doing my run on the treadmill rather than outside.

I'd have to say, I really dislike the treadmill now. I've tried it three times and it just doesn't feel natural. It's not spontaneous like running on the ground and at least here, all the distances are measured in kilometers and it's too much work while I'm trying to stay on to try to convert the distances and paces in my head. But, if need be, it is something I can do rather than going outside. I've also used the indoor track a few times to do some repetition workouts. I was going to do this outside this week, but by the time I got out, it had started snowing and the roads were covered and I couldn't tell where there was ice or not, so I headed to the track.

Today, we were lazy in the morning and I tried to hydrate myself. Finally by early afternoon, I got myself and Hayde ready for a 9-mile run. It was in the lower 30s, kinda sunny maybe and little wind. Perfect! I've been letting Hayde off leash when I'm on a path or around neighborhoods where there's little to no traffic and keeping her shock collar on just in case. She's been really good with this and will come back to me when I call her. I never let her get too far infront or behind me though. This way, I feel like I can take her a little bit longer than with her on a leash. So, she came with me the entire way today and was really good. We even ran across some other people and dogs and she did a great job healing with me. I do leash her when on busy streets, but at least she got maybe 4 miles off leash today. By the time we got back, it had just started snowing and the wind picked up so I got out just in time! Hayde's been sleeping since we got back! I'm so happy this run went really well.

I think that's about it. We're looking at going to Ottawa this week as there's a huge outdoor sports show(fishing, hunting, camping, boating etc) and a San Jose Sharks vs. Ottawa Senators game Thursday night we can get a deal on. It'd be fun to watch since a former badger plays for the Sharks and another is the Senators goalie. We'll have to see - we're thinking about going on Thursday to the show and then to the game - if Jeremy can get a vacation day.
Caught this as a movie this week:
