Anyway, thanks to the warm weather, Hayde and I had a nice, but very wet and sloppy run on Sunday. We managed to get in 9 miles! Whew! It turned out to be pretty good and I kept an eye on my heart rate and my pace to make sure we weren't going too fast. And of course, when we got home, she ran in and grabbed her frisbee and ran back outside to play. I wish I had that energy!
Later that night, Kharren came over with Khartem so she could get out of the house. She's starting to get cabin fever too. I'm so thankful we've met and have become friends so we both have someone to talk to and to hang out with. The rest of our weekend was pretty quiet. We hit the gym Saturday and picked up Jeremy's rental car (meaning I got the truck for a few days!) and relaxed and putzed around the house. Of course, there was hockey both nights. Friday, we freaked out a bit and second guessed ourselves on our permanent resident application so I spent the morning trying to call and get someone to talk to at immigrations to make sure we had the correct application and the right place to mail it. I think we are ok, but I waited to mail it. Jeremy had stopped after work on Thursday at the bank to get a money order so we had everything ready. It's quite costly as our first payment is $550 a person (canadian $s). We will have another payment of ~$400 a person once they decide we qualify and they start processing the application. AECL should be able to reimburse us though. I did finally get it mailed on Monday! Cross your finger's we followed the 60 pages of instructions correctly and have every space filled in and all the correct and notarized documents, or they'll send the whole thing back to redo.
Sometime during the weekend, we had a few small accidents with our wine. We were storing them all on their sides in my storage shelving I had made and all the sudden we heard a loud pop or explosion. We couldn't figure out what it was and when I got up to look, I saw our wine pouring out of the bottle onto the floor. I ran over and grabbed it and managed to save half the bottle. We looked at each other wondering what animal had been playing with it, but realized Stewart was the only one around and he was sitting under the kitchen table on a chair. We cleaned up the mess on the floor and pulled all our cook books out as they were underneath the wine on the shelf below and of course got poured on. Later that night after we went to bed, I heard another noise and decided I better get up to see what cat had gotten something on the counter. Again, I came down to see wine pouring out of another bottle onto the floor. I grabbed that one and managed to save half the bottle. By this time, I was wondering what was up and I heard a fizzing noise and realized there were gas bubbles bubbling from the bottom of the bottles. I guess the grape wine wasn't done degassing and was blowing the corks out. Needless to say, I up righted ALL the bottles and one more time, during the weekend, we heard a cork blow out.
While Jeremy's been gone, I've been plenty busy. Monday, I took Kitty to the vet as she needed her booster shots and I needed to order her new food (she's on prescription food to keep her urinary crystals at bay). All is good with her and they were able to order her food (must be somewhat limited up here), but it only took a day to get in. I did ask the vet what she thought of me taking Hayde running on my training runs as I don't want to take her too far for her safety and health. She told me I can take her on-leash up to an hour and more would be hard for her to stay with me at a steady pace. If I take her off-leash on a trail or somewhere where she can run freely, I can take her as long as I want so she can stop and start and race or gallop at her own pace. That's good to know. I will plan on making a few loops on my runs as they get longer and longer so I can take her for part and then drop her off to finish the rest on my own. (I do need to start learning to run on my own again as I feel like something's wrong when I don't have her with me). I also hit the gym Monday during the day and found it kinda nice to be able to do then rather than at night after Jeremy gets home and after we eat. Later, Kharren and I went into Pembroke to do some errands and I spend the night going over some interview questions. Today, I went to the gym again and dropped some movies at the library. Kharren came over again for a little bit and then I headed back out to pick up Kitty's food and hit the library again since they called to say a book Jeremy had requested as an interlibrary loan had come in.
All this running around has gotten me more confident again driving his truck. I only had one small mishap the first time out Monday. I got to the light on the corner and couldn't get into first gear when the light turned. I forgot to use the clutch and by the time the light was about to change, I realized this and was able to get going again. Other than that I'd have to say I'm feeling proud of myself for getting around without problems.
One last thing. I had a phone interview today for a potential job. It's nothing exciting, but at least I might have a chance for a small paycheck. I'd be doing phone surveys all day, calling people in hopes of getting someone willing to take a few minutes out of there day to answer some questionnaires, but I'd be working from home. I can't imagine doing this very long, but I could set my own hours and I'd have to at least work a minimum of 3 hours and no more than 7 hours a day. Right now, they don't have many hours and they will call me as soon as they get another project or two in which they'll need people to pick up hours. At that point, I can let me know if I'm still interested in starting the training or not. I guess we'll wait and see, but I still look each day to see if there are any new posting for ANYTHING I could do and apply, but it's still slow going and I never seem to hear back from any place I've applied. I keep wondering how many people are applying for these positions if I know AECL gets hundreds for some of their jobs!
Oh, I met our new house neighbors yesterday too. They aren't sure when they'll be able to move in yet as they're still working on the apartment in the basement. They're a young couple with a small child. Our landlord keeps hoping the basement can be finished up in the next week or so, but each week he says that. I hope it's soon as I also hope these people don't smoke as I'm soooo sick of being around people that smoke! The guy that's been working down there since we moved smokes a lot and has been living down there and I have to keep asking him to smoke outside as it immediately comes thru the vents and I'll wake up in the middle of the night smelling it. This fall, I've come to realize I'm allergic to it. I was so excited when we moved to this house and thought we'd be the only ones here since the last 5 years or so, my neighbors have smoked and it always comes in thru the windows and fills my place up. Well, I'm done
I'll attach a picture of Hayde from the other day playing "King of the Mountain" on the snow bank along the road at the end of the drive way. She loves scrambling on top and running down. We can no longer see the road when backing out the driveway so let's hope we don't run into anyone on the sidewalk as we inch out.
