I'm trying to think back thru the last week so I can capture everything. Not much happened in the beginning of the week. Our house neighbors continued moving stuff in and finally by the end of the week, they finished the basement apartment(mostly) and Matt and Amanda and their son were able to stay overnight. We have yet to get to knew them as we've been out and about over the weekend. I'm curious to see what it looks like down there. Last time I checked, the kitchen and bathroom were being worked on, but nothing was close to being done. We'll have to see how things work as we control everything, but they've got the electrical box down there. We also have a light up here that's wired to their kitchen light, but it's the light behind our kitchen in the old stairwell that lead down to the basement that is now closed up and can be a storage spot for us.
Wednesday, I hooked up with Kharren and went into town for a
few errands. I dropped an application off at a pet store in Pembroke. I'm kinda hopeful this might work out as I think it'd be a funner place to work than most of the other jobs I've found. Plus, if I could get a discount on pet supplies, that would be helpful. We'll see, it's a part time job and I can't see that it'd pay much. I also took Hayde to the vet on Wednesday as I realized she was overdue for her shots. It worked out great because early in the week, we had really nice weather. It got into the 40s F! So, I decided walking would work out just fine and Hayde wasn't sick this time. The receptionist immediately knew we walked since Hayde's underbelly was wet and dirty when we walked in. She weighs 82lbs!
I made it to the gym Tues with Kharren, minus Jeremy. He had to stay at home and watch the Sharks vs. Bruins game and that overrules the gym. Kharren's going to try to hit the gym on Tuesdays with us now that she can start getting back into shape after having Khartem.
Thursday, Jeremy drove to Ottawa to meet with a former intern working on his
masters to go over some stuff this guy had done for AECL that Jeremy's now working on. It sounded like the meeting went fairly well. Jeremy commented on all the underground tunnels they have on campus between buildings so you don't have to go outside in the winter.

I originally thought it was something I ate, but after talking to Kharren later, she mentioned she know others with my same symptoms. I ended up not eating Friday and just stayed on the couch. I was fine as long as I
didn't move too much to upset my stomach. By Saturday, I felt much better, but still wasn't sure it was gone completely, but I did eat in the morning. We then went to Pembroke to get some more large minnows and hit DQ. My valentines was to be ice fishing and DQ. I can't describe how exciting this was to me!!! We then came back, picked up our ice fishing gear and Hayde and drove back to Corry Lake.
We set up two tip-ups and then two poles for Jeremy and I to jig. We got
some small egg-like things to put on our jigs, but weren't sure how good these things might actually be. Turned out something was working. I pulled in a small pan fish. Before much longer, a flag popped up and we ran over to it, pulled the flag off and set the hook. We pulled in another muskie!!! This time, Jeremy let me call it my catch. I did drill the hole. My first muskie ever!!! It was exciting, but my hands froze while Jeremy took my picture. I bit later, Jeremy's jig must have found some fish as he pulled in a small pan fish and a small perch within minutes of each other. That was our luck for the day. He was hoping we'd catch some keeper pan fish to freeze. I was just glad we pulled in some fish! We finally packed up before it started getting dark and headed back, but I was amazed we stayed out there for ~4 hours or so. Of course, Hayde was running around the whole time with her frisbee.

We got back, unpacked and sat for a few minutes while deciding if we wanted to hit the gym or not and decided
we should. I was feeling rather tired and weak, by this time, but figured I'd regret it if I didn't attempt the gym so we headed out. I was rather weak, but it did feel good to get it in. On our way home, we realized we had no food for dinner so we ordered pizza and walked over to get it. For some reason, this walk got be chilled to the bone and I couldn't stop shaking and get warmed up. I think by this time, my body realized I did too much and I was feeling a bit sick again. Finally after an hour and a half under my down thru and another blanket I did get warm and took a cat nap. When I woke up I felt much better and managed to eat a piece of pizza.

We finally agreed, I'd try my run in the morning and see how it went. If it wasn't good, I'd turn around and come home and we could hit the ice, if it turned out ok,
I'd do half my run then, we'd go ice fishing and I'd try to finish it after we got back. Dad, you'd be proud of me for thinking about rearranging my runs. However, once I got going (and it was slow), it wasn't too bad, so I got in 6 miles, came home, showered and got ready to ice fish. We went back to Corry Lake and drilled two holes for tip-ups and two for jigs. I jigged for an hour, pulled in a tiny pan fish, Jeremy pulled in a tiny pan fish and we lost a fish on the tip-up, but whatever it was got the bait minnow(see photo of the size of the bait). After an hour, I changed clothes and did my last 4.5 miles out on the ice while Jeremy watched the two tip-ups. I went out for a little bit then came back and went back out. A few times, Hayde came with me running with her frisbee in her mouth and a few times, she stayed back with Jeremy waiting for a fish to bite. By the end, I was worn out - I had only eaten two pieces of toast and had a cup of broth all day. The broth was not settling very well in my stomach though so when we got back, I went back to only soda and laid down the rest of the night.
I'm feeling much better this morning and so far the toast or soda isn't bothering my stomach and I have a much happier, positive attitude. But, I'm going to take it easy today and rest. I think I've now caught up on all our excitement for the last week. It's now back to winter as it's still only 10F out, but it looks like we should be in the mid to upper 20s if not 30s for highs this week. I have to add that Jeremy finally got his official PAL (possession and acquisition license) in the mail too. One more thing done and over!
