Somehow these weeks don't get any less busy... We got up to base Monday to play tennis. It was really warm out, I even had shorts and just a t-shirt on! It was really windy like it's been all week. Jeremy came down with a cold again Monday night, so we did not lift. I ended up going myself on Tuesday after I ran. He did go to hockey on Wednesday.
Thursday, we didn't go into work right away. We had made an appointment at the local police station. Why? We needed to get our finger prints done in order to get an FBI background check done for our permanent resident application. It was quite the experience being taken into the back of the police station and past all the holding cells. While we were there, they brought someone in that was resisting arrest and overhead the officers trying to get this guy settled down. They needed all sorts of personal information for our finger prints, such as height, weight, eye color, right handedness, shoe size, employment and a lot more, even a photograph. Eventually we did get our hands inked up and had each finger done individually, then had all four fingers done simultaneously with our thumb added. The last thing was a print of our entire hand and palm. We then headed into Pembroke to drop our tax forms off that we had to sign. Jeremy had to fill out one more form and send that in via mail. We also made one last stop at town hall in Petawawa so we could pick up a burning permit/application/regulations as well as the fencing bylaws. We finally made it into work and Igot there just a minute or two late for my 10am meeting. After work, we headed up to Deep River so Jeremy could close down his original bank account. We stopped at Canadian Tire as well to get a replacement battery for the green jeep as well as for the trolling motor on his boat and some rope for the tree which I'll explain later.
Since we got home late Thursday, I missed running club(hill workout), but was not too sad. It'd been a rough week and a night off was ok. We ended up going for a long walk instead. We ended up going the opposite way that we normally go. We walked thru another small neighborhood on the other side of Petawawa Blvd. After several blocks we noticed a lawn mower sitting in someone's driveway with a sale sign on it. Whoa! We've been looking for a lawn mower, but Jeremy didn't want to spend money on one and had hoped to find a free one that wasn't working so he could fix it up. I had seen one or two on my run last weekend, but Jeremy hadn't gotten out the door soon enough to look at one around the corner and by the time we did, it was gone. So, Jeremy knocked on the door and rang the doorbell, but no answer. Thankfully he had his cell phone with him and called the number. The woman told us to call back in ten minutes since her husband was out so we continued our walk and made our way back after a bit. He nocked and rang the bell again, but no answer so he called and as the woman was looking for her husband, she came outside and saw us standing in the driveway. Turns out he picks up old mowers and fixes them and then sells them. We ended up walking home (since we didn't have any cash on us) and Jeremy went back with a car and money. He picked it up for $75 so hopefully it'll be good enough and last for a bit. At least we know where we can go if we want it fixed again.
Friday we were pretty beat after work and took Hayde out for another good walk. We then decided to hit the movie theater up on base to see Clash of the Titans. It was ok, but maybe not one to see in the theater. We got up early enough Saturday and Jeremy called a guy he works with. He was going to help us cut down the dead tree in the back yard. However, soon after I got up, it started raining or maybe I should say sleeting. I decided maybe I should get my run in quick and headed out while it had stopped briefly, but by the time I got back it was sleeting again. We decided to hold off cutting down the tree hoping maybe it'd clear up in the afternoon or wait until today. As the morning went by, it started to snow, nice big flakes. It really started coming down as you can see in the following pictures. UGH! No more snow! It did start sticking to the ground, but by afternoon, it had melted, but didn't stop snowing.

By the time I did get out, the tree was down! Wow, that was fast! It was really dead and dry. Thankfully it came down where they wanted it between the house and the neighbor's yard or the line of trees between our properties. They had tied the guide rops to the truck as an extra guide and Jeremy backed up as Chris cut. I missed the actual fall, otherwise would have gotten a movie. (We did have Hayde inside while the chain saw was running.)
They then proceeded to chop the tree up and I helped clear branches.

Saturday afternoon, we headed back to Deep River because the battery we got for the boat, was the wrong size and we could only exchange it at the Deep River store. We then headed to Pembroke to do some more errands. We took the evening easy and stayed in.
Jeremy dug out the top of the roots to see about cutting the stump down, but they decided to leave it as is and the plan is to get an axe to cut out the stump.
We did opt NOT to take down the nice cedar in back as well. The cedar is sitting right in front of the doors to the back shed on back of the garage and this is the only way we can get the boat in the shed. We'll see how Jeremy feels after we try to get the boat out (sometime in the next week). I had to include the next picture with Hayde looking so nice.
The almost completed job - all cleaned up...just waiting to get the stump removed. It already opens up the backyard so much. I can't wait until we get the stump out and then it'll really open up the yard and it'll seem really big now! We'll have to get the clothes line back up, but I don't need it up as quickly since it's been so rainy and cold this weekend, I've gone back to using the drier.
We also got the cherry tree planted. We had stopped yesterday to get some more dirt. The bricks were around the dead tree so we've moved them to the new tree. I guess since one came down, one needed to go in. I may even plant some flowers around this or just add some mulch around it. I picked up some grass seed so hopefully once it warms up again, I can get that spread around some of the bare areas we had dug up and fill in some of the thin spots. We'll still have lots to do with the yard, but most of it'll have to wait until next summer when we can regenerate our cash since we have to do the roof yet this summer, but improved from when we did move in.

I'll have to add, we've been watching a lot of the hockey playoff games as well. Poor Ottawa is out, but they gave a good fight. Elliot, the badger's goalie, had a few good games. We are currently watching the Chicago vs Vancouver game. Burish, another badger is on the Chicago team and we've witnessed a few good Sharks game, Jeremy's team. Pavelski, another badger is on that team and is having a really good season. He got to play with the US Olympic team. Looks like ~one more month of hockey to go!
