Yard & Fishing

This last week was a long, but fast week and I'm trying to remember what happened. I was very busy at work trying to meet a deadline, but somehow we still had time to do other things. We headed out fishing Tuesday night I believe. I don't remember that we caught anything. We did try fishing up river a bit to a new spot we hadn't tried before. Thursday, Jeremy headed out to Kelsey's to meet Lee and Tony. They ended up coming back here for a bonfire later in the evening(I stayed in trying to get some more work done). I also was able to make it to running club Thursday. I don't remember what else we did during the week.

Friday evening we headed back out on the river just across from the boat landing. We must have hit a good time since we were able to pull in a few walleye. We also got bombarded with mosquitos at dark and finally gave up trying to fight them and headed in.

Saturday, we actually slept in until 7am! We had a good week and managed to get up early enough to get a morning run in each day. We decided to take Hayde for a walk along the catwalk or the Milenium Trail - over by our old house by the Petawawa River. We ran into our neighbor there with her dog! Later, we managed to get the top off the truck bed and I made a trip to the nursery(dangerous trip!) and I picked up two more blueberry plants and a few other little plants and a load full of mulch. So, we unloaded all the mulch in the flower garden and berry garden. I forgot to mention Jeremy painted the mailbox gray!!! It looks SO much better now(no more big rust spots). He's also working on painting the outer side of the oil tank. It's slowing going down so hopefully before winter it'll be low enough that we can move and put in a slab and finish painting it.
We also go the side of the house dug up and got some wildflower seeds planted and mulched. We'd like to put up two more trellises here and add an ivy or climbing rose bush.
Berry garden mulched. I'd like to get the rest of the grass out, but that's a smaller priority for later.
Saturday evening, we cleaned up (it was a very hot humid day after it poured mid-day while I was at the nursery) and headed into town. Jeremy made b-day dinner reservations at the Saffron Bistro and took me out! We had a very delicous three course meal. Thanks Jeremy! Later we stopped by Candices for a bit - they were going to come over for a bonfire, but didn't.
Sunday, we got up early and headed out west of here towards Bissett Creek to try our luck trout fishing. We had gone to this lake last year and caught some really nice trout. We decided to take the canoe this time since it's a very rough road way back in the woods and a small boat landing. Unforutnately, we decided it'd be best to leave Hayde at home since she gets so excited when we pull in a fish. On our way there, we ended up seeing a fox run across the road, 15 minutes later, we saw a deer along the side of the road and as we headed to the boat landing, we came across a black bear! We even saw two hawks while we were out on the lake.....we were just missing the king of the woods - a moose. Once we go to the far side of the lake we got our fishing poles ready and sure enough, I got mine out and got a hit. I pulled it in and found a bass. Turns out that's all we got! So much for trout to bring home, but we had fun pulling in bass after bass. They all gave a good fight so it was fun pulling them all in. We stopped and looked around one of the camp sites on an island thinking maybe we could go back sometime and camp. Once again, we had to dodge the attack of mosquitos!

We stayed at home the rest of the afternoon and cleaned up a bit. Monday, we headed out on the river again in the evening. We went back across from the boat landing again. Unforunately, I forgot my camera and it was absolutely gorgeous warm night and we had a nice sunset. We had more luck again and ended up bringing home three more walleye(small, but good enough). It's raining today, but we're about to head out to take Hayde for a walk and hopefully hit the gym. Until next time...
