Recovering Puppy Dog

Everything's gone smoothly for Hayde and she's finally home recovering(sleeping) and looking much more like her usual happy, energetic self. Turns out she downed a long calf-length sock (got 1st place in making the vet come closest to vomiting during surgery) that was half digested and lodged half way thru her small intestines. Fortunately, her intestines were healthy yet and only an inch or so incision was necessary to get this sock out. She got sewn up and stayed overnight with an IV and some meds. They called this morning saying she was awake and doing great, her digestive track was starting to work again and she was excitedly wagging her tail. I picked her up later this afternoon and was sent home with her on a sugar water diet for the rest of the day, although she hadn't yet tried any. Tomorrow we can start her with a few teaspoons of soft food they sent me home with and if that stays down, we can slowly work on giving her more and more small bits several times throughout the day. She'll be on some meds for another 10-14 days yet.
