After about 24+ hours and over two dozen vomits, I decided it was time to call the vet and take Hayde in. This all started yesterday morning just after getting up. About the 4-5 vomit, up came a sock so I thought she was ok, but she continued vomiting immediately afterwards. She's occasionally gotten into socks or underware or whatever she can get her mouth on, but each time it's either come up or come out. This time, I didn't know what was going on. She seemed a bit better in the afternoon and in the evening she did eat a treat bone, but overnight that came up. She never did touch any of her food yesterday. Upon getting up this morning, she vomited three more times and I noticed Jeremy had cleaned up another mess when he got up and I found one more he had missed. I decided it was time to take her in because this wasn't getting better and I feared she had managed to eat something else and after hearing my sister's story about her cat eating ribbon and needing surgery, we needed to see what was wrong.
I called the vet and thankfully they could get her in by 10am and I called Kharren in hopes she could come pick us up and take us since Hayde was not doing well at all and I didn't want to make her walk even though the vet is just a few blocks away. She was trembling so bad as well. I later found this is a sign of pain. They took her vitals, got the story and deamed it was necessary for an x-ray. Just before we were leaving, the x-ray came back with some fabric type of thing caught in her small intestine. They took her immediately, within an hour, into surgery. They didn't want to wait any longer for fear of her intestine dying and having to take out a portion and stitch parts of it together. Thankfully, this wasn't necessary and they made a small incision and pulled out the sock and sewed her back up. She's currently recovering at the hospital and doing well, but staying for observation to make sure there aren't any complications or infections that arise. She's on pain meds, nasea meds and antibiotics. I'll have to call tomorrow around lunch to check back in and see when we can pick her up (sometime tomorrow evening). I guess labs are notorious for eating and getting foreign objects stuck in their digestive tracts.
Poor poor pup, she's looks so miserable and sad, so I'm glad I got her in and found out what was wrong and they were able to take care of it and with a few days recovery, hopefully she'll be back to her old happy, energetic self.
Oh, we got yet another ~3 inches of snow overnight again...
