Patiently Awaiting News..

Upon a long, slow day of waiting yesterday, not much was progressing for my sister. She was eventually getting sick of laying in bed with not much progress and for a bit, was uncomfortable laying in the hospital bed hooked up to the monitor, but they were able to make some adjustments and get her more comfortable. They finally let her eat a small dinner and let her get up and walk around a little and stopped the petocin. This seemed to make her feel much better. Finally by 11pm our time, I gave them one last call before going to bed and still - not much progress. By 8am this morning, my parents called, while my sister slept to let me know not too much going on although at her last check at 4am her time (6am my time) she was nearing full dilation. A half hour later, upon her waking, they called one more time to let me know it was time for her to start pushing. YA!

As I sit here awaiting more news, I'll fill you in on Hayde. She's doing much much better and I managed to give her one full can of special canned food yesterday and she's kept it down. She gobbled it up enthusiastically each time. She does burp like she's re-tasting it though. Otherwise, she's been sleeping or resting most of the day. She was up and about after Jeremy got home until he had to go to hockey last night. We'll work on 1-1/2 cans of dog food today. No exercising for a good week and by the end of the weekend, she should be gradually moving over to her regular food.

Next round of news is good. My parents called around 1:45pm my time saying my sister had been pushing for the last hour and things were moving along - they could see a head full of black hair! She was doing great and they were going to give her a 1/2 hr break and see if she could get some rest. So, hopefully soon I'll have the final word. I managed to get out for a quick run in the meantime. It's cold! It feels like 20F with the wind, according to my little weather station I've got set up outside. A few flurries again, but this morning was sunny. Made some banana bread while I was waiting too. Might start in on another round of pretzels so Jeremy'll at least have something to eat while I'm gone!

This isn't easy! Just received another call from my parents (4pm my time) stating after more time pushing, this baby wasn't moving forward much and his head was starting to get a little swollen so they've opted to do a C-Section. She's definitely ok with this at this time so hopefully in about an hour we'll have him here!
