2nd Week of Visitors

I'm going to have to try to remember back a whole week to catch up!

Saturday evening, Jeremy did get the new starter in the red jeep successfully and he took the heater valve out to check it and put it back in, hopefully more secure since the coolant was leaking from here. He and Howard went back out in the boat on the Ottawa River to try some more fishing. Howard was successful and caught 3-4 walleye and a bass I believe. Jeremy managed to catch a bass and a catfish or something. I can't remember. In the meantime, I managed to get the pizza started and we had a very late, but super good dinner of home made deep dish pizza- toppings to each person's liking.

Sunday, Jeremy and Howard got up early and took the boat and truck up past Deep River to Bissett Creek. This is where we had gone trout fishing. They got the boat in the water and headed out to the bay at the end of the lake. I guess Howard caught a few smaller trout and Jeremy caught a bass, but they didn't have nearly the luck we had had both trips earlier this summer. And, they didn't even grab one picture for me to post!

Carol, Marilynne and I headed out to Barry's Bay Sunday. We stopped at the info station and then hit up a spot for lunch. We then took a walk thru some of the shops on the main road of Barry's Bay. Marilynne is always on the lookout for loon stuff and has been keeping her eye out for a t-shirt from the area. Unfotunately, this isn't a very big tourist spot so there's not much in terms of Petawawa T-shirts, other than military ones. We headed back home and Jeremy put together some of the trout to cook on the grill. It was all from the freezer since they didn't bring any back with them. We then left them to head to softball, of which we lost, again!

Monday, Jeremy and I both worked, although I had the morning free. Sorry, can not think of what everyone did this day. I do have to add, as I found out upon my return home that night that Jeremy just managed to make it home in his green jeep and that the water pump had blown. He already had it up on the car ramps when I got home. Tuesday, Jeremy headed off to work in the morning, but he decided to take a half day and came home just after I headed off to work for the afternoon/evening shift. Before leaving for work, I picked up a new water pump. He decided to take the clan up the Ottawa River to Stonecliff and show them the river and take them up one or two rivers into Quebec. He also made them dinner with some of the moose meat he had gotten from someone at work. Later in the evening, Jeremy took them out the Millenium Trail which is the snowmobile trail about a block down the road that heads out towards the highway.

Wednesday, Jeremy took the day off and I headed into work early in the morning. Marilynne wanted to take a drive into Quebec to see what it was like, but they found out it was more or less like Wisconsin, with cows and crops. I guess they also did some shopping in Pembroke before they stopped at Home Depot as I finished up my shift. We then headed down the road and went out to eat at JJs for a celebration/Howard and Marilynne's anniversary dinner (by this time, Jeremy had found he could have picked up my offer). We had a good time out before we headed home.

Thursday, I had the day off and Jeremy went back to work. By midmorning, I noticed it was going to be army tank day. After several months of being around in the mornings, I've noticed every so ofter a whole bunch of army tanks drive by the house, one after another for a good part of the morning. We stood outside in the driveway watching. (I usually watch them from the window by the computer desk) We noticed it says student driver on the back so it must be a training thing. Finally when it looked like they were done, we headed off to Centennial Park with Hayde for one last walk and more pictures. I let Hayde in the water in the river and she had a blast running around chewing on sticks and then trying to find something that was on the bottom of the river. We watched her for probably 20 minutes trying to get this thing.

We came back, ate lunch and noticed Hayde had was bleeding from a foot. I managed to catch her and noticed she had sliced a good layer of her pad off on her back foot. Thankfully it's way in the back and I don't think it touches the ground when she walks - which is why it didn't seem to be bothering her. I ran over to the drug store across the street, got some tape and wrapped her foot. We spent much of Thursday outside in the yard. Later, I took Carol up to Chalk River to pick up Jeremy. Another car story...Kharren's car, or the car Lee's been driving, had broken down Wednesday. So, we picked Jeremy up in Chalk River and he let Lee drive the red jeep home (thankfully we have the truck now!!!!) and the three of us headed up to Deep River to Jeremy's bank. We decided to order some pizza from the Petawawa Pizzaria just around the corner. It's super good pizza. On our way to pick it up, we stopped at the drug store and I picked up some more guaze, anti-bacteria stuff, ointment and more tape so I could do up Hayde's foot. Later, I gave her a bath and let her foot soak to get any depris out of the cute before I cleaned it out and re-bandaged it. She's done really well with it wrapped up, until today.

Thursday night, we had to say our good byes to Howard and Marilynne as they headed out Friday morning on their way back to WI. Again, Jeremy and I both had to work all day so Carol was at the house on her own. We ate left overs for dinner and before long, had to get ready to head to softball. We're having a tournament this weekend, Friday - Sunday. Carol came to watch us loose one more time.

This morning, we all got up early and got going just after 7am to take Carol to the Ottawa airport as she heads back to FL. It's been raining non-stop all day so when we got back, we picked up a movie and are calling it a lazy, naping day. We have softball in a short while if it's not raining too much so I'll have to wrap this up soon. I'll have another post with more pictures from these last two weeks with our second visitors!
