Well, tonight has been quite the night. We watched the US vs Canada gold medal hockey game and unfortunately, it didn't turn for the US's win, but it was quite the game with Canada up by 2-0 for a while. The US finally scored and was down by one until the last second when the US managed to tie the game and it went into sudden death over-time. I could barely watch, it was soo exciting. I guess we'll have quite the ear full tomorrow at work. Oh well, we still gave Canada a run for their money. We've been watching the other hockey games this week and unfortunately, the US women lost to Canada in the gold medal game too.
In the meantime, I've been hitting the gym three nights this last week and running. We got a dumping of snow in the middle of the week and gained at least another foot or more, however, the temps have been really warm - highs above freezing! So, thankfully, the roads have cleared quickly. The day I was on site there were two big accidents on Hwy 17 , just west of Chalk River, in which two big semi's went in the ditch, a driveway apart, and they had to close the road just when people were trying to get home from work.
I have to quick add as I type and am watching the closing ceremony, they just had geese noises and birds flying around on TV and of course, Hayde perked right up and was listening and looking around the room for the birds.
Not sure if I had mentioned, I did sign up for the Ottawa 1/2 marathon at the end of May so I'm breaking out into my training, with Hayde of course. Saturday, I was able to go see the coach of the running club as she had someone visiting that can do body composition assessments. So, I went and she weighed me, measured me, did the calipers tests several places and even did a hydration test (I had to pee in a jar 1st thing in the morning). I'll have to look over my results a little bit so they make more sense. I also talked to the coach since we have been trying to get a group of people together to go to Ottawa to a training center for some more assessments, such as VO2 max, lactate testing, and other things. Mainly, testing to see how efficiently the body works. We're hoping to go sometime towards the end of March maybe. Otherwise, she suggested I keep an eye out for the U of Ottawa looking for participants to study in their research. This way, the testing would be free! Maybe, once the group moves back outside, I can join them again. They've been running on the indoor track at the gym and I refuse to after more than likely, having two stress fractures from trying to do indoor track.
After this assessment on Saturday, I came home, picked up Hayde and some gear and drove to Marnie's in Quebec. We took the dogs out and snow shoed on the river for over an hour. I put my GPS on so I know we ended up doing over 3 miles. It was super slushy from all the fresh snow and warm weather so it was a good workout! See the link for our walk: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/25812938
Friday and Saturday, Jeremy had a hockey tournament in Deep River. He played late Friday night and Saturday afternoon and evening. I didn't get home from Marnie's early enough to go watch his last game (he played against the team Lee was on). Today, Hayde and I managed about 7 miles, and about 83 minutes. We ran thru the park first so it was slow going as the trail wasn't packed down on my loop down below the bank. We then rain down Laurentian(huge hill) to the river and back home: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/25812933 I was getting tired by the end and I think Hayde was too. So, over the weekend, we did over 12 miles and I'm sure Hayde did closer to 13 or 14 with all the running back and forth she does. She's been snoozing since.
I've also been working on the sleeper for the baby and am almost done. It's taken a lot of work so I hope it all turns out. Kharren's due in about a week so it's any time. Well, it's almost 10:30pm and I must get to bed. I'm waiting for my load in the dryer as it has bed sheets I need to get on. I did not get any work done this weekend as I had hoped either. Oh well. I'll have plenty to do at work then. Chelsea's off for a few days so I'll be on my own driving. Jeremy should be home soon from his Sunday night hockey so I best say good night. I'll have to post a few pictures later.
