Busy Weekend

We ended up with a relatively busy weekend. Jeremy finally felt well enough to go to his Friday night hockey league in Deep River. I ended up hanging out with Lee and Kharren and two of their friends, Kelly and Matt, from the Belleville/Trenton area along the northeast side of Lake Ontario which is where Kharren grew up. They had come up for Kharren and Lee's baby shower on Saturday. Saturday we putzed around in the morning and then went to the baby shower. This was a girls and guys shower so yes, Jeremy was dragged along (kicking and screaming). He ended up hanging out in the basement with Alex and another boy playing video games most of the time. The rest of us played games and chatted with each other. I did end up winning "Who can get the diaper on the stuffed animal the fastest". Kharren's sister and I ended up as partners and I used my right hand and she used her left hand and we won every time to win the overall championship! Wow, I never thought all those diapers I changed at my sister's would come in handy like this!

Once the shower was done, some of us stayed and hung out until the next party started. I had a good time talking with Kelly most of the night. Jeremy headed home as he was grumpy and not feeling that great. I almost went home with him as we wanted to try to bottle the wine, but we decided to wait until Sunday. Little did I know he'd get bored at home by himself so bottled it without me.

Upon my arrival home, he was just cleaning up from bottling the wine. I had to yell at him for not waiting for me. But, I did get to try a few sips. Unfortunately, he had siphoned from the bottom of the jug and not from the top where it was clear so all bottles have sediment in them and are no longer clear. Oh well. On to the taste! It tastes much like raspberries, rather sweet and wine-like, but we don't think there is any or much alcohol and we're wondering if it was infact too cold for the first ~10 days for it to ferment.

We didn't do too much Sunday, but I did get a 5.3 mile run in, in several inches of new snow. It ended up snowing all day, but I don't think we got more then 5-6 inches. I'd have to say that was a good workout trying to run thru all that snow for my first over 5 mile run in about a year. Hayde of course came with too. I can maybe get her past 6 miles this year. Usually in the past (since Hayde's been with us), by the time I get to 6 miles, it starts getting really warm out so I don't dare take her longer than that for fear of her overheating. I've ended up doing half marathons as well, so don't need the extra mileage. I'll have to see how she fairs in the next couple of months.

Soon after I got home, our landlord stopped by and told us, he's hoping to have the basement renovation completed in February so the people that stopped by earlier to see it could move in. He's going to lower our rent a $100 and pay us $100 for utilities since we are paying for the entire house. We'll have to see how that works out. While he was here talking to us, we got a phone call and listened to the message after he left. Turned out Kharren's water broke and they were at the hopsital. I quickly jumped in the shower and she called back asking if I could come to the hospital for more support. We lucked out as Jeremy was able to drop me off at the hospital in Pembroke by 6:30pm (only hospital in the area equiped for deliveries) and head to his Sunday night hockey in Deep River. She ended up delivering at 8:13pm and her and Lee now have a baby boy.

I must wrap this up as Lee is heading home to try to get the car seat hooked up and is going to pick me up. They lucked out with the shower on Saturday and then were able to get some of the necessities (car seat, bassinet, stroller, diapers, etc) Sunday during the day just before her water broke. What luck! They're hoping she can come home today, but it looks like Khartem-Lee is showing signs of jaundice so we'll see.

I'm also watching all the inaugurral stuff on TV this morning as I work on the computer. I don't know that I've ever seen this live before and it's kinda neat being able to watch this year, but again, it's odd being outside of the US.
