Update

Saturday, we made a quick trip into Pembroke to hit the wine store so we could get corks for our wine. We figured we may as well bottle our ~3 gallons of raspberry wine. We also picked up some empty wine bottles for $0.85 a piece. We've been collecting our own bottles as we drink wine, but only have a handful. We also figured we pick up a wine kit and try that rather than do it all from scratch (just in case our stuff doesn't work out). This, however, makes about 30 bottles and should be ready to bottle in ~28 days. Hence, the need for lots of bottles quickly. So, if any one comes to visit us up here, hang on to any empty wine bottles. I'm sure we can trade and send you home with a bottle or two. We loose our deposit one bottles if we don't turn them in too, so US bottles would be a welcome. In the end, we have yet to bottle as Jeremy came down with a bad cold and hasn't had the energy to help me try to bottle the raspberry wine. I'm hoping he'll feel better soon as I'm anxious to try some. We did get the kit going as you can see in the picture. It does give off a nice grape aroma in the house that I keep smelling all day long! I ended up picking up two hydrometers today to measure the fermenting process as the sugar turns to alcohol . If we measure it at the start of the process and at the end and subtract the two values, we'll get the approximate alcohol content.

Turns out that Jeremy stayed home from work today with his cold. He's in the high restricted area of the plant and is only allowed to have water - no food, liquids, gum, etc., hence, no cough drops or cold medicine. So, I got use of the truck! Quick update - I've only driven 3 times since we moved and once was with his truck so I wasn't as confident as I had been using a stick. I ended up doing some errands in Pembroke and managed to make 6 stops without problems, well, once I got past our block. I was trying to turn the corner after getting out of the driveway and didn't get into gear and konked out. Then, I couldn't get his truck restarted. UGH! I had to call him and he came out and started it for me, but in the meantime there were many cars that had to try to get around me. Ops.

I'm still searching for any jobs I can realistically apply for so most of my time has been devoted to that - other than running. I did manage a 4.6 mile run yesterday so I'm on my way, but still am always amazed at how long I have yet to go. I'm in desperate need of finishing my running book so I can get a training schedule on paper so I have something to shoot for. Right now, I'm kinda doing it in my head to get a good base, but I can't do this for much longer before I run out of time to build all the milage I need. Hayde's been a great partner as well and is doing great keeping up, though I think she adapts much much quicker than I do and has much more energy! Had to add this picture of Hayde in her classic hold of her (new) frisbee.

Must add - I made some apple crisp last night with a few old apples and decided to put a layer of oatmeal crumble on the bottom, then a layer of apples and another layer of oatmeal crumble. It turned out really well! Yum! Also, I had mentioned around Thanksgiving I was working on a secret project. I can now reveal what it was since it was for little Jack and I didn't want my sister knowing until I had given it to her. I had some help from my parents as I couldn't obtain a certain pattern. See pictures of the two cute little suits - one a Green Bay Packer romper and hat and the other a blue bunting, with snowman I hand sewed on, and hat. I added the little mits on both as well. I needed help finding the packer fabric as I didn't think it'd be available here in Ontario in a small town at the edge of civilization!
