I'm wondering if the entire country or province has March Break this next week, unlike in the US when each school district has their own???? I'll have to ask Kharren. At least it's looking up in terms of weather...We did finally get our heat back, thankfully!!!! :) Makes me so much happier. After several calls to our landlord, calls to service people and talking to Matt and Amanda in the basement, the electricians finally came Wednesday evening (just before Jeremy got home) and ended up re-wiring a new switch on the furnace. Somehow, there was no power getting to it. We're wondering if it happened Friday when the Bell people come to install the TV, Internet and phone downstairs and somehow broke the switch. We also had lost our phone service Friday and it turned out our line got caught in the basement door when it was shut and got pulled out. What a pain. I'm sick of dealing with all these nuisances. They're still trying to finish up the basement too.
In the meantime, we had 40F degree weather up thru Wednesday which was really nice. Wednesday got super windy and I kept being blown away whenever I went out. I did get in a 6 mile run with Hayde somehow. By Thursday, we had a high of about 15F-20F maybe but it was sunny at least and the wind died down so it was chilly, but not too bad. Today got a bit warmer, but I'm anxious for the next couple days as it's supposed to be above freezing thru the end of the forecasting! More and more snow has melted. I keep working on the ice in the driveway and uncover more driveway each day. Hayde and Dolly have been having fun most days playing outside with each other for a bit.
I also made a call to the MNR(ministry of natural resources) this week and managed to get thru to the local biologist to get some fishing/lake information. They should be sending us info on where the trout streams are (up by Deep River) and depth charts of lakes in the area we requested along with what fish species are in which lake and what's stocked. This way we can study up and figure out where we might want to try fishing. I'll have to dig up the fishing journal I made Jeremy so we can start that up again and keep track of what we're catching, where and with what along with weather/lake conditions.
Wish us luck as we head into Pembroke tomorrow to try to sort thru Jeremy's Canadian taxes. I'm figuring this is going to be a pain in the butt just like everything else. Apparently, the other foreign workers at AECL have been having just about as much trouble getting situated here as we are and we learned recently that he's the 1st person from the US that AECL has hired. Apparently, they haven't hired from the US due to immigration issues. ???? Makes you wonder.... We're getting frustrated with the whole situation and he's once again trying to verify we made the right choice by moving here, but he'd be doing that no matter where we moved. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get a job up here or if I'll have to sit around for 2 years until he gets some experience and we get permanent residency before we try to move back. I guess it's all a gamble and who's to say we'd be any better off in the US right now anyway?
Neighborhood infront of us on the way to the path.
