Arrivals

My parents made it safe and sound Wednesday afternoon. It's been nice having them around while Jeremy's been gone. My mom's helped me pot the rest of my plants and my dad helped me get my bird feeder up and my weather sensors firmly secured on the porch/deck. We also have gone for several walks (with Hayde of course). Yesterday, since it wasn't raining, we went to Algonquin Provincial Park. The closest entrance to us is about 45min to an hour away. We took the canoe thinking we could put it in, but by the time we got going and got there, it was later than we hoped so we just did some hiking. We wanted to go see the High Falls, but we were mislead as to how long of a hike it was and in the end never made it far enough to see (after tiptoeing thru a really mosquito filled pond/bog in the middle of the trail). We then drove back a bit and did a shorter hike to see Barron Canyon which is a spectacular canyon that the Barron River runs thru - my parents plan to head back next week (while Jeremy and I are at work) to canoe the canyon. It's been raining again today, so we stayed in and my mom made Apple Crisp with some of our old apples and then this afternoon we tackled another homemade deep dish pizza.

As for Jeremy, he did make it back last night, earlier than I figured, just as we were finishing dinner. He still needs to show us his pictures and he's told us some of his Tokyo stories. It sounds like a very different culture and certainly a very different city than here in Petawawa! He went out on the town each night and got to experience some of the Tokyo night life. His presentation went really well, but he thought they should have scheduled it on a different day when they had other presentations that were more similar to what he presented. He's off to his hunting class all weekend, 7-8 hr days, so we'll have to catch up later this week hopefully. He's currently sprawled on the couch sleeping(after a big pizza meal). I hope to post a few of his pictures next time too.

I'm off to start my 40 hr week tomorrow and hope my poor feet will hang in, especially since the bottoms are still super sore and probably still bruised. I have all easy runs this week of 20-30 min with tomorrow's long run at 45-50 minutes, and of course we're expecting a high of 6C(~42F)! Brrrrr.... I'll have to see how I manage 8 hours outside in this chilly weather too!

I did manage to get the license plates for the new jeep on Wednesday too! My dad helped get them attached to the jeep and we had to take it out for a quick spin. I've gotten to drive it a few times now and it's so quiet and drives nice. The first time out, I almost couldn't remember how to drive an automatic, but by the second time, it was second nature again. Jeremy wants to drive it for a bit and then he'll pass it on to me to drive and he'll keep driving his old jeep. Maybe we can take the new one with us to Ottawa next weekend and then down to NY to see my sister, Bob and Jack at camp.
